Aaah…I remember the days when I was a swimmer and training hard for an important meet. Granted I was never on the level (or even the same plane of existence!) as Michael Phelps, but I recall fondly those huge 4,000 calorie breakfasts. I’m still a carb fiend after all these years, too :)
I remember reading years back about the gymnast Dominique Moceanu’s diet. It was basically grilled chicken for dinner every night and she claimed she had never even had a Coke. So as impressed as we are with Phelps’ diet, imagine what those “16”-year old gymnasts think about it.
